Day 1: Nairobi to Lake Bogoria – Your Private Safari Begins

Nairobi to Lake Bogoria – Your Private Safari Begins

Personal Nairobi Welcome

Your guide will meet you between 6:30 and 7:00 a.m. at JKIA or a confirmed Nairobi hotel. After verifying the itinerary and luggage, begin the 270–300 km journey through the highlands, Nakuru and Marigat. Driving takes 5–6½ hours excluding lunch, traffic and comfort stops. As a solo traveller, you can discuss suitable photography and refreshment stops directly with the guide.

Private Bogoria Exploration

Arrive during the early afternoon, have lunch and check into your premium accommodation. At approximately 3:30 p.m., visit accessible areas of Lake Bogoria to experience the escarpment, geothermal features and seasonal birdlife. Flamingos may occur in changing numbers depending on lake conditions. Your guide will remain available while respecting your personal space and preferred observation pace. Follow marked routes near hot springs because geothermal ground can be unstable. Return before darkness for dinner and an evening briefing.

Day 2: Lake Bogoria to Lake Nakuru – An Independent Rift Valley Journey

Lake Bogoria to Lake Nakuru – An Independent Rift Valley Journey

Quiet Bogoria Morning

Breakfast begins around 6:00 a.m. before a cooler-hour visit to the lake. Solo travel provides time to concentrate on personal interests such as birds, landscapes or photography without coordinating a large group. Nevertheless, all stops must follow access restrictions and the guide’s safety instructions. Return to the property and check out around 9:00 a.m.

Premium Nakuru Safari

Travel 110–130 km through Marigat, requiring 2½–3½ hours excluding lunch and road conditions. Check into your selected accommodation and rest before beginning a Lake Nakuru game drive around 3:30 p.m. Possible sightings include rhinos, buffaloes, giraffes, antelopes, baboons and numerous birds. Wildlife encounters cannot be guaranteed. Return near sunset for dinner. Ask the property about escorts when walking through unfenced grounds after dark.

Early Wildlife Session

Depart around 6:30 a.m. for a final Lake Nakuru game drive. Your guide can spend additional observation time at subjects that interest you, provided the schedule remains practical. Search lake viewpoints, woodland margins and clearings before returning for breakfast. Complete check-out between 9:00 and 9:30 a.m.

Arrival in Maasai Mara

Drive 230–270 km through Mau Narok or another suitable route, taking 5–6½ hours excluding lunch and variable road conditions. After reaching Maasai Mara, check into your premium camp or lodge and receive the property’s safety briefing. A short introductory game drive may begin around 4:00 p.m. when daylight permits. Elephants, giraffes, zebras, buffaloes, antelopes and predators may be encountered. Return near sunset for dinner and overnight.

Maasai Mara – Private Full-Day Wildlife Experience

Your Preferred Safari Pace

Breakfast is served around 6:00 a.m., with departure between 6:30 and 7:00 a.m. Discuss your priorities with the guide, whether you prefer photography, predators, birds, landscapes or balanced wildlife viewing. The route will consider animal movement, road conditions and reserve regulations. Possible encounters include lions, cheetahs, elephants, giraffes, buffaloes, zebras, hyenas and many birds.

Mara Picnic and Exploration

Have a picnic lunch at an authorized site between 12:30 and 1:30 p.m. Continue through riverine areas, grasslands and seasonal waterways during the afternoon. A private vehicle provides flexibility, but off-road driving, approaching animals too closely and exceeding park hours are not permitted. Migration activity depends on seasonal rainfall and herd movement. Return between 5:30 and 6:00 p.m. for dinner and a relaxed evening at your premium accommodation.

Naivasha Arrival

Travel 220–250 km through Narok and Mai Mahiu, requiring 4½–6 hours excluding lunch, traffic and comfort stops. Check into your premium lakeside property during the afternoon. You may relax within designated grounds or join a confirmed guided activity. Do not walk alone near unprotected shorelines because hippos may move onto lodge grounds after dark. Fish eagles, kingfishers, cormorants, pelicans, herons and hippos may be observed.

Journey toward Kilimanjaro

Check out and drive 330–370 km through Mai Mahiu, Nairobi’s outskirts and Emali. The transfer requires 6–8 hours excluding lunch, traffic and rest stops. Personal Morning Safari

Depart between 6:15 and 6:30 a.m. after tea, coffee or an early breakfast. Clear weather may reveal Mount Kilimanjaro, but the mountain can remain hidden by cloud. Explore open plains, woodland and wetlands while searching for elephants, buffaloes, giraffes, zebras, antelopes, predators and birds. Your private guide can adapt stops to your photography and observation interests.

Unhurried Afternoon Viewing

Lunch is served between 12:30 and 1:30 p.m. at the lodge or an authorized picnic location. Continue exploring Amboseli without pressure from a larger group, allowing sufficient time to watch animal behaviour. Your guide will maintain safe distances and avoid interfering with wildlife movement. No animal or mountain view can be guaranteed. Complete check-out between 8:30 and 9:00 a.m. Verify your passport, phone, medication, chargers and valuables before luggage is loaded into the vehicle.

Secure Nairobi Drop-Off

Travel 200–240 km through Emali to Nairobi, taking 4–5½ hours excluding lunch, traffic and stops. Your guide will take you directly to JKIA, Wilson Airport or your confirmed Nairobi hotel. Solo travellers should avoid an excessively tight international connection and select a late-evening flight or extra Nairobi night. The service ends only after arrival at the agreed drop-off point and confirmation that your luggage has been unloaded.

RELATED FAQS ABOUT 8 Days Premium Solo Traveller Safari from Nairobi

    1. Is the safari completely private?

Yes, when booked as the private option. You will have a dedicated guide and vehicle and will not be matched with unknown travellers without written agreement.

    2. Will I pay a single-room supplement?

Most lodges charge additional costs for single occupancy. The exact supplement depends on the selected properties, season and room category.

    3. Is Kenya safe for a solo safari traveller?

Professional transport and confirmed accommodation reduce many logistical concerns, but normal travel precautions remain necessary. Follow guidance regarding valuables, night movement and unfenced properties.

    4. Can I choose the wildlife-viewing pace?

A private safari offers useful flexibility. However, park hours, transfer distances, road conditions and accommodation schedules still determine what changes are practical.

    5. Will I dine alone at the lodges?

You may dine privately, speak with other guests or request an appropriate shared table where the property offers one. Arrangements differ by lodge.

    6. Can a female guide be requested?

Yes, subject to availability. Make the request early so the operator can confirm a suitably experienced guide before other bookings are finalized.

    7. Can I join other travellers for only part of the tour?

Shared activities may be possible at some properties, but they must be confirmed separately. Your private road transfers and game drives remain private unless changed in writing.

    8. Who should I contact during an emergency?

You will receive the guide’s number and the operator’s emergency contact before departure. Keep both numbers available offline as well as in your phone.

    9. Can the guide take photographs of me?

Yes, when safe and appropriate. You can ask for photographs at viewpoints, lodges and designated stops without handing equipment over in crowded public places.

    10. Is this tour suitable for a first-time solo traveller?

Yes. Airport pickup, road transport, accommodation and activities are coordinated in advance, while the private format preserves independence and personal space.
