Our guides will keep the pace steady and remind you to drink water, walk pole pole, and save energy for the coming days. Today you will move from Shira 2 toward the quieter Moir Huts area, one of the special highlights of this 9-day Lemosho Route. The trail leads into a more remote section of Mount Kilimanjaro, away from the busier southern circuit. As you gain altitude, the landscape becomes drier and more dramatic, with volcanic rocks, open ridges, short grasses, and high-altitude shrubs. Our guides will keep the pace calm because Moir Huts sits higher than Shira 2 and is important for acclimatization. This camp gives you a peaceful wilderness feeling and a strong sense of privacy on the mountain. When you arrive, you will rest, enjoy warm drinks, fresh food, and a quiet evening surrounded by the open beauty of Kilimanjaro’s high slopes.

After breakfast, you will leave Moir Huts and trek toward the Lava Tower area, a famous acclimatization point on Mount Kilimanjaro. The route crosses a high alpine desert landscape with volcanic stones, dry ridges, and open mountain views. Reaching Lava Tower allows your body to climb high before descending lower to sleep at Barranco Camp, which is one of the best ways to support acclimatization. Our guides will monitor your condition carefully and encourage a steady pole pole pace throughout the day. After resting and eating near Lava Tower, you will descend into the dramatic Barranco Valley, where unique plants such as giant groundsels, lobelia, and senecio create a beautiful natural garden. This day begins with the famous Barranco Wall, a memorable part of the Lemosho Route that gives the climb a real adventure feeling. Although it looks steep from camp, it is not technical climbing, and our guides will carefully show you where to step and how to move safely. After reaching the top, you will enjoy excellent views of valleys, glaciers, and the upper mountain slopes. The trail then crosses several ridges before descending into Karanga Valley and rising again toward Karanga Camp. This shorter day is very useful for recovery and acclimatization before moving to Barafu. The landscape becomes colder, drier, and more rugged, with volcanic stones and wide views toward the summit area. On arrival at Barafu, you will rest, eat well, and save energy for the midnight climb. Our guides will give a final summit briefing, explain your clothing layers, water, snacks, headlamp, and safety plan. You will walk slowly through the cold arctic zone, following the trail over steep scree toward Stella Point on the crater rim. From there, you will continue to Uhuru Peak, the highest point in Africa at 5,895 meters. This is the most emotional moment of the journey, with sunrise, glaciers, and the feeling of standing on top of Mount Kilimanjaro. Our guides will celebrate with you, take photos, and make sure you descend safely.
