The 9-day Kilimanjaro climbing via the northern circuit route is a challenging and rewarding expedition that takes you on a remarkable journey to the summit of Mount Kilimanjaro, the highest peak in Africa. This lesser-known route offers a longer and more gradual ascent, providing ample time for acclimatization and increasing your chances of reaching the Uhuru Peak successfully.
Begin your adventure at Londorossi gate, where you complete the needed paperwork. Then head to the Lemosho trailhead. Enjoy a tasty lunch before starting your climb through the untouched forest. Look out for Colobus monkeys along the way. The path goes up and down, guiding you to Big Tree Camp (Mti Mkubwa). The climb takes 2 to 3 hours.

Wave goodbye to the forest as you climb through a place with big heather plants and volcanic formations. Spend a whole day climbing up the hilly land under the Shira Plateau. Shira, a big volcanic cone, appears in the distance. After about 5 to 6 hours of hiking, you'll reach Shira 1 Camp.

Cross the wide Shira Plateau, and you can even go up Shira Cathedral if you like (it's really tall). The day ends with a slow climb to Shira 2 Camp. The climb is about 3 hours without going to Shira Cathedral, and you get an extra hour if you choose to go.

Today, you go up more as you walk along the ridges of the desert. You'll get to Lava Tower, a big volcanic rock, after about 4 to 5 hours. Then you go northwest around Kibo, the tall summit cone, and find Moir Huts, a campsite not many people visit. The whole climb takes about 6 to 7 hours. You can also explore Lent Group in the afternoon if you want.

Climb up slowly to reach the flat space between Kibo and Mawenzi peaks. From there, keep going up to get to School Hut Campsite in the afternoon. Rest up because you're getting ready for the summit climb early tomorrow. The climb takes 4 to 5 hours due to the high ground.

Around midnight, start the climb to Uhuru Peak, the highest point in Africa. You'll be climbing for about 6 hours with your flashlight guiding the way.
