9 Days Kenya Midrange Family Wildlife Adventure from Samburu to Amboseli

Your family safari begins with pickup from Nairobi and an approximately 320-kilometre journey to Samburu, taking 5½ to 6½ hours. Our guide will schedule washroom, refreshment and stretching stops to keep the journey comfortable for children. After lunch and room check-in, the family will enjoy a shorter afternoon game drive of 2½ to 3 hours, looking for elephants, Grevy’s zebras, giraffes and colourful birds.

After breakfast, your family will explore Samburu for approximately 7 to 9 hours, covering between 60 and 110 kilometres. Our guide will explain adaptations, tracks and feeding behaviour in an engaging way. You may observe elephants, lions, reticulated giraffes, gerenuks and Grevy’s zebras. Lunch will be served in the reserve or at the lodge, and the drive may be shortened when younger children require more rest.

Following breakfast, the family will travel approximately 275 to 300 kilometres to Lake Nakuru over 5 to 6½ hours, with planned comfort stops. After lunch and lodge check-in, you will enjoy an afternoon game drive of approximately 3 hours. Children may see rhinos, giraffes, buffaloes, baboons and waterbirds while learning about conservation.

The morning begins with a 2½-to-3-hour Lake Nakuru game drive before you travel approximately 240 to 260 kilometres to Masai Mara in 5 to 6½ hours. After arriving, checking in and having a late lunch, the family may enjoy a short evening game drive when timing allows.

Following breakfast, you will spend approximately 8 to 9 hours exploring Masai Mara and cover between 70 and 140 kilometres. Our guide will explain food chains, predator behaviour and animal families while searching for lions, cheetahs, elephants, buffaloes, giraffes and zebras. A picnic lunch will be served in the reserve. Separate morning and afternoon drives may be arranged for younger children.

After breakfast, your family will travel approximately 250 kilometres to Lake Naivasha in 5 to 6 hours. After lunch and check-in, an optional boat ride offers safe viewing of hippos, fish eagles and waterbirds. Crescent Island may be included for children old enough to follow walking and safety instructions.

After an early breakfast, you will travel approximately 320 kilometres to Amboseli over 6 to 7 hours. Planned family stops will be included along the way. After lodge check-in, you may relax, use available facilities or join a short afternoon game drive of around 2 hours.

After breakfast, the family will enjoy 7 to 9 hours of wildlife viewing and cover approximately 60 to 120 kilometres. Our guide will search for elephants, lions, buffaloes, zebras, hippos and birds across marshes and open plains. Mount Kilimanjaro may be visible during clear morning weather. The day may be divided into two drives when preferred.

Following breakfast, your family will travel approximately 240 kilometres to Nairobi in around 4 to 5 hours. Washroom and refreshment stops will be arranged before drop-off at your hotel, residence or airport.
