The 9-day Northern Circuit Route is a remarkable and less-traveled path to conquer Mount Kilimanjaro, the highest peak in Africa. Offering a unique and awe-inspiring experience, this route is perfect for adventurers seeking a longer and more scenic trek. As the newest and longest route, the Northern Circuit provides ample time for acclimatization, increasing your chances of reaching the summit successfully.
After a hearty breakfast and a comprehensive briefing, we drive to Londorossi Park Gate, which takes about 3 hours. From there, a forest track accessible only by 4WD vehicles leads us to the Lemosho Glades. The trek begins through lush Montane Forest trails, and we reach the picturesque Mti Mkubwa campsite, known for its towering trees.

Today, the trail gradually ascends as we enter the enchanting heather moorland zone. Crossing several streams, we make our way over the Shira Ridge and descend gently to Shira 1 camp, nestled by a serene stream. The views of the moorland are stunning, making it a perfect day for acclimatization.

Embark on a longer trek today, heading eastward through the "Garden of the Senecios" and entering the high alpine desert zone. Reach the iconic Shark's Tooth rock formation and the Lava Tower at 4,600 meters, where we'll have lunch. Descend to Moir Camp at 4,200 meters, an important step for acclimatization, as we experience high altitude and then sleep at a lower elevation.

Today's trek includes a moderately steep climb out of Moir Valley, with an optional hike to the summit of Little Lent Hill at 4,375 meters for breathtaking views. We then continue along the Northern Circuit trail, skirting around the northern slopes of Kibo until we reach Buffalo Camp.

Starting the day with a climb up Buffalo Ridge and descending into Porfu Camp for lunch, we continue eastward around the northern slopes to the Rongai Third Cave. With well-acclimatized bodies, we reach the Third Cave by mid-afternoon.

Today, we face a steady incline up and over the Saddle, nestled between the peaks of Kibo and Mawenzi. Continuing south-west, we ascend to School Hut, where we will have an early dinner, rest, and prepare for the summit attempt later in the night.

Around 11:30 PM, we begin the steep ascent up the slopes of Kibo under the cover of darkness. Passing Hans Meyer Cave and Gilman's Point, we push forward, arriving at the magnificent Uhuru Peak at or just after sunrise. After savoring the awe-inspiring views, we retrace our steps, reaching Millennium Camp for our final night on the mountain.

After breakfast, we begin the descent to Mweka Park Gate, where you'll receive your well-deserved summit certificates. Lower elevations might be wet and muddy, but our team will be there to assist you. Ascend Tanzania's vehicle will be waiting to drive you back to your hotel in Moshi, where you can celebrate your incredible achievement.
