Arrival Day: Arrival Kilimanjaro Airport – Arusha
Upon arrival at Kilimanjaro International Airport, a driver will meet you and provide a transfer to Arusha. This one hour drive introduces you to the lush surroundings of the city. You will spend the night at a comfortable hotel, resting before your 9-day May safari in Serengeti Migration begins. Your guide will meet you for a briefing to explain the weather patterns and the expected movement of the herds.

Day 1: Arusha to Tarangire National Park Manyara/Karatu
Drive 120 kilometers to Tarangire National Park, a journey of about 3 hours. In May, Tarangire is a green paradise with tall grass and leafy trees. You will spend the day watching elephants move through the thick vegetation. A positive surprise often involves seeing large numbers of waterbirds that gather in the marshes during the rains. You will head to Karatu for your overnight stay.

Day 2: Manyara/Karatu to Serengeti (Half-Day Game Drive)
Travel toward the Serengeti, a 240 kilometer trip taking about 6 hours. You will stop at the Ngorongoro viewpoint to see the vibrant green crater floor before entering the park. The 9-day May safari highlights the endless green plains. You might see lions resting on the rocky kopjes, looking out over the fresh savannah. You will reach your central camp by sunset.

Day 3: Central to Northern Serengeti (Full Day Tour)
Head north toward the Mara River area, a drive of 140 kilometers taking 5 hours. In May, the migration is often moving through the Western Corridor toward the north. You will look for cheetahs and giraffes in the hilly northern landscape. A pleasant surprise is often spotting a newborn gazelle taking its first steps in the green fields. You will reach your northern camp by late afternoon.

Day 6: Northern Serengeti (Full Day Tour) to Central Serengeti
Drive back to the Central Serengeti, a 5 hour journey through the heart of the park. You will visit different waterholes where hippos are active. This transition allows you to see the resident wildlife of the central plains once more. You might encounter a large group of elephants crossing the road. You will arrive at your central camp in time for a warm dinner and storytelling.

Day 8: Serengeti (Morning Game Drive) to Ngorongoro

Reaching the crater rim, the air cools and the forest becomes lush and emerald green. A highlight is the first view into the crater floor, which looks like a paradise from the viewpoint.
