5 Days Kilimanjaro Adventure Hiking via Marangu Route

After breakfast, we depart from your hotel and drive to Marangu Gate. Upon arrival, we complete the necessary formalities and meet our guides and porters. The trek begins with a 4-5 hour hike through a beautiful rainforest. Along the way, we may encounter blue monkeys, birds, and various floras. We reach Mandara Hut at an elevation of 8,858 ft where we will have dinner and spend the night.

We start the day with a hearty breakfast and continues our trek. Leaving the rainforest behind, we enter the rolling alpine meadows with stunning views of Kibo and Mawenzi peaks. The hike takes approximately 6-8 hours, covering a distance of 12 km. We reach Horombo Hut at an elevation of 12,205 ft, where we will enjoy dinner and rest for the night.

We continue our trek, leaving the alpine meadows behind and entering a rocky and rugged terrain. The trail leads us to Kibo Hut at an elevation of 15,430 ft, which takes approximately 5-7 hours to reach. Here, we rest, have an early dinner, and prepare for the summit attempt.

Descend to Horombo Hut We start our summit push in the early hours of the morning, typically around midnight. The climb is challenging and requires mental and physical strength. After several hours of ascent, we reach Gilman's Point at 18,600 ft, where we witness a breathtaking sunrise. Continuing further, we reach Uhuru Peak, the highest point in Africa at 19,341 ft. After celebrating our achievement, we begin our descent back to Horombo Hut for a well-deserved rest. The descent takes approximately 3 hours.

On the final day, we descend through the tropical rainforest for about 21 km, which takes approximately 5-7 hours. Upon reaching Marangu Gate, we collect our summit certificates and say goodbye to our guides and porters. A vehicle will be waiting to transfer us back to our hotel in Moshi.
