Day 1: Drive to Kilimanjaro National Park Marangu Gate, Hike to Mandara Hut

After breakfast and a briefing, you will be driven to the Kilimanjaro National Park Marangu Gate, which takes approximately 2 hours. Upon arrival, you will register and begin your hike. The first day's hike will take you through the rainforest to the Mandara Hut. Along the way, you can take a side trip to Maundi for scenic views. Camping overnight at Mandara Hut.

Day 2: Hike from Mandara Hut to Horombo Hut

Leaving the rainforest behind, you will ascend through the open moorlands to reach the Horombo Hut. The hike offers stunning views of Mawenzi and the summit of Kibo. Look out for giant lobelias and unique bird species. Camping overnight at Horombo Hut.

Day 3: Hike from Horombo Hut to Kibo Hut

Continuing your ascent, you will pass the last watering point and walk onto the saddle of Kilimanjaro, situated between the peaks of Kibo and Mawenzi. Vegetation becomes sparse as you enter the "moonscape" terrain. Camping overnight at Kibo Hut.

Day 4: : Hike from Kibo Hut to Summit, and descent to Horombo Hut

Starting very early in the morning (midnight to 2am), you will begin the hike to the summit. The steep and challenging ascent will take you to Gilman's Point on the crater rim. From there, you will continue to Uhuru Peak, the highest point of Kilimanjaro. After enjoying the moment and taking in the breathtaking views, you will descend back to Kibo Hut and continue down to Horombo Hut. Camping overnight at Horombo Hut.

Day 5: Hike from Horombo Hut to Trailhead, Drive to Moshi

On the final day, you will have a steady descent through the moorland and lush forest path. The trail can be wet and muddy at lower elevations. A vehicle will be waiting for you at the Marangu gate to drive you back to your hotel in Moshi. It's customary to tip your guides and porters at this time. Celebrate your accomplishment!
