Altitude: 890 m (2,920 ft) ? 2,100 m (6,890 ft) ? 2,650 m (8,694 ft) Distance: 6 km (3.7 miles) | Hiking Time: 3–4 hours | Habitat: Montane Rainforest After breakfast, drive approximately 3 to 4 hours to Lemosho Gate (2,100 m), where your Kilimanjaro adventure begins. The trail leads through a lush rainforest filled with towering trees, colorful birds, orchids, and black-and-white colobus monkeys, creating endless opportunities for wildlife and nature photography. The soft forest light filtering through the canopy makes this one of the best sections of the mountain for capturing vibrant landscape and macro photographs. After hiking 6 km, arrive at Mti Mkubwa Camp (2,650 m), where you can photograph the peaceful forest atmosphere before enjoying dinner and your first overnight on the mountain.
Altitude: 2,650 m (8,694 ft) ? 3,500 m (11,483 ft) ? 3,850 m (12,631 ft) Distance: 16 km (10 miles) | Hiking Time: 7–9 hours | Habitat: Heath and Moorland Today's trek leaves the rainforest behind and enters the spectacular heath and moorland zone, where wide-open landscapes replace dense forest. Along the way, you'll photograph giant heather, volcanic rock formations, and breathtaking panoramic views across the Shira Plateau. On clear days, Kibo Peak rises dramatically above the clouds, providing outstanding opportunities for landscape photography. Arriving at Shira II Camp (3,850 m) in the afternoon allows time to capture the golden light of sunset and, if skies are clear, beautiful night photography filled with stars.

Ascend gradually to the impressive Lava Tower (4,630 m), where towering volcanic formations create spectacular compositions against the mountain backdrop. After lunch, descend to Barranco Camp (3,960 m) using the "climb high, sleep low" principle. Along the descent, you'll pass giant senecio plants, rocky valleys, and towering cliffs that make this section one of the most photogenic on the entire route. Sunset at Barranco Camp is particularly rewarding for landscape photographers.

After an early dinner and summit briefing, prepare your camera equipment for one of the most unforgettable photography experiences—the sunrise from Africa's highest point.
