6:00 AM to 11:30 AM Overland Journey to Mikumi

Depart Dar es Salaam early and travel toward Mikumi through varied countryside. Your guide will introduce the itinerary and explain how the safari will combine vehicle based game viewing with more active walking experiences later in Udzungwa. Comfort and refreshment stops are made during the drive before reaching the park area around midday.

7:00 AM to 9:30 AM Transfer to Udzungwa Mountains

Leave Mikumi after breakfast and travel toward the mountains. The short drive reveals a rapid ecological change as grassland and woodland give way to greener valleys and forest covered slopes. Arrive with enough time for a substantial walking experience.

10:00 AM to 1:00 PM Guided Forest Walking Safari

Meet a local guide and begin walking through tropical forest. Look for monkey tracks, bird activity, butterflies, streams and plant species while learning how to identify signs that would be impossible to appreciate properly from a vehicle. Walk at a comfortable pace with regular stops for interpretation.

2:00 PM to 5:00 PM Waterfall and Mountain Trail

9:30 AM to 11:00 AM Breakfast and Recovery

Return for breakfast and allow enough time to rest after the morning walk. Refill water, pack luggage and prepare for several hours of road travel. The deliberate break prevents the day from becoming physically exhausting.

11:00 AM to 6:00 PM Drive Through Iringa Region to Ruaha
